Coming In To Land

So where have I been? The last 2.5 weeks has been a holiday time for myself and Emma. We started out heading up north way to Lancashire for a couple of days. We hung out with Stupid Dave, Lou, Freddie and various others and had a good play on Bolton Le Sands and Middleton beaches. I took some video and unfortunately didn’t get myself in the film. For your viewing pleasure I have put it below:

Emma and I then headed off to North Wales on the Monday. Had a cracking day a Morfa Conwy on the water and had some awesome photos taken (by Emma) which ought to surface at some point when she has got her act together and isn’t too busy working ;) The wind was strong on the Monday and the Tuesday it was a bit weak and overcast. The days were good and there was a fantastic camp site that we stayed at. On the Wednesday we headed back to Birmingham to sort a couple of things out and stayed for the night. Thursday we got up, sorted out shitniz out and headed down to Cirencester to go play at the cable tow wake park there. That was a real good laugh, we started out on knee boards and, having taken my kiteboard, had to go play on that. We camped that night just outside of Southampton. On Friday we headed further down to Yapton nr Littlehampton to see my mum and watch some of round 6 of the BKSA comp. It was good to see good people out playing. The wind wasn’t that strong so I didn’t bother to get my kit out and play myself. That evening we met my mums cats and fell in love with the kitten Fred, he is disgustingly cute, exceptionally curious and wants to play all the time. Saturday was a lazy day in the sun – no wind. Sunday was blowing a hooly and I went out and played on the water. Was loving it until I managed to crash the sonic into the beach and break a clip on it. Went out on the 16v mahooooosivly over powered and put it down soon after. Monday we headed to Westward ho for another hanging on session with nice 10ft+ waves. Stayed out for an hour until my shoulder started giving me some grief and then I came in and did some filming of Will pulling some huge kiteloops on the buggy. Monday night we stayed in this quaint pub/hotel for the night and had a well deserved treat. Tuesday was a low wind day and we bumped in Blader, GR!Z and cos from the sky pirates and then headed home. This marks the end of the Emma+Chris holiday. Have to admit it was slightly scary going away but the holiday was most excellent and I think both Emma and I really enjoyed it.

Last week was spent doing not that much. Infact I think I did some work on Wednesday, Thursday was spent doing some film editing and Friday was spent with Emma. At the weekend a number of us headed down to the new EKS site and spent the weekend in curious winds on billiard table smooth grass. Here is a video that crap jack made of the event:

Sunday evening, Emma and I headed down to my dads for a brief stop-over. The next morning I dropped her at the station and then headed down to my mums for her birthday. Monday evening it was blowing ~32mph gusting to 37mph and I was out on my sonic (hence the picture above). My shoulder was too sore to fly yesterday and I’m sat here waiting for a bit before I head off. 2 days of holiday left.

A rant. Well not really, a cry for help.

Work this year has been quite heavy. Especially the last few weeks with the finalisation and deployment of a huge project that we have been working on, as a company for a fair few months. This week should see the system go live which is a huge relief for all of us – I know for certain that I am not the only person to feel tired as a result. Unfortunately, due to holiday timings of my fellow work colleagues I have had to shift my holiday from June/July to September (including a last minute shift from first three weeks to the last three weeks of the month). I am really looking forward to taking some time off to find my head and should have the added bonus of being able to go away with my girlfriend for about 12 days. The plan has been to go cruise about and spend the days kiting, hanging out, eating and having a few beers here and there. Unfortunately the wind looks shit. Really shit. What is there to do? I think I could cope with no wind days for a few days but I might go mad otherwise. Looks like a bucket load of swimming and running is in order. The only thing that looks hopeful is that there are southerlies predicated for the weekend that we are due to be on the south coast.

Power SLIDE

This has to be one of the most awesome projects to be undertaken at home when parents are away. 7 days of work to create an awesome slide :D
