Cracking Weekend

Filed under: Going Out, Kiting — Chris Ross @ 12:17 pm

Apart from watching someone eat a baby octopus, I had a cracking weekend. Food in Dimsum in town followed by some drinks and ending up in the Tap and Spile.

Went a bought some clothing on Saturday (animal board shorts x 2, an animal t-shirt, and a couple of pairs of shoes – one pair of etnies) managing to spend only £86. Then did not that much apart from grab some food from Waitrose and watch some Life on Mars and crash.

Sunday a number of us (me, Emma, Badger, Little Dave and Guy) headed up to Conwy in North Wales. It was fun :D

Board Bag Arrived

Filed under: General — Chris Ross @ 2:20 pm

Well the final piece of the board puzzle arrived today – a Dakine Slider 135cm board bag. This has got a shiny covering on the inside with foam then the outside. The aim being is that even if the board is wet, the bag is “wipe clean” and the padding is there to stop the board getting scratched or hit upon by evil other luggage. It even matches the colour scheme of my board. Now I just need to go out and ride some waves with the new bit of kit :D

Busy Busy Busy

Filed under: Going Out, Kiting — Chris Ross @ 9:10 am

Well the fins and bolts arrived today with the post – action-pact rock. I fitted them and the board is now ready. I even now have a reel leash that I can attach to my harness and clip to the board so that it wont go good bye! Now I just need some wind at the weekend which is looking as likely as 17 super models arriving at my front door and wishing to marry me.

Close Up Fin

So things are happening fast. I am off to the south coast next week to see my mum for a couple of days during the week and then I am off to Sweden for work. I think I will be taking some kiting stuff with me though, I suspect I’ll go mental with out a fly. Hoping that the weather is nice and improves. I feel very sorry for the people who are suffering from floods.

It arrived!!

Filed under: Kiting — Chris Ross @ 1:33 pm

Well, my board arrived. Looks fantastic but unfortunately the fins+bolts where left out of the package. After a quick phone call, they have been put in the post and should arrive tomorrow. Hail the conquering action-pact. Here are some pictures:

More pictures for the curious here. (Will probably bung one final one up after I’ve bolted everything to the board)

Transformers; Skateboarding; Kiting

Filed under: Films, Kiting — Chris Ross @ 10:44 am

Saw the Transformers film yesterday. Very good, go see it. I spent most of the time with goose bumps all over and my heart racing. Optimus Prime fucking owns.

I’ve got a balance board and inherited a skateboard from my good man Timmins, and I’ve learnt to do ollies (simplest trick of making the board do a jump). The next trick is a kickflip. It is a good laugh and is improving my balance and motor control.

I’ve sold my old 146×40 kiteboard and should have arriving tomorrow a Crazy Fly 132×41 Pro Line kite board. Carbon and wood based should provide a nice ride. The board is slightly wider (earlier planing) but shorter (should be much faster) and with the carbon/wood core construction should provide nice flex for jumps and bumps. KiteWorld have a review of the board:

Can’t wait to ride that bad boy and thanks go out to action-pact for sorting this bad boy out for me. Maybe if there is wind and a lot of water about, I’d not even need to go to the beach. I wonder what a flood plane is like to ride ;-)

Anti-Terror Police.

Filed under: General — Chris Ross @ 12:36 pm

Does that mean there are pro-terror police?

If not, why not just call them police.

I only ask because it is a term used a lot in various news reports I’ve heard and seems stupid to me.

Terror. Wah.

I was going to write a long piece on the recent terror stuff. But Mr Lewis Page has managed to put everything I wanted to write in a nice and succinct article. Go and enjoy.
