It is an interesting trend. Actually, it isn’t interesting at all, but something that I have noticed about my blog. I only ever really post when I have a spare moment but for some reason I have had quite a few of those recently but not had the motivation to post.
Work is ok, there are a few things that need to be sorted out and everything should be more settled. We are almost at the end of the first cycle of a piece of software which is good. It means we can start thinking about version 2 and what features we wish to implement, what things need to be changed and inject a little more creativity into the process rather than deal with bug reports. It should also mean that I get to play with ferite technology more, both in terms of ferite itself – the prototype compiler for version 2 seems to be having more and more ideas thrown at it – and webframework. I want to sit an streamline webframework as I am sure I can make it more lean and more flexible. I’ve also been checking out Google Web Toolkit and the ideas they have behind it. I will save talking about GWT, webframework and ferite in more depth next time.
Kite wise, I’ve been out on the water a few times and managed to get up and going. Once up I kinda lost power and came to the conclusion that I needed more wind. The last time I went there was more wind but slightly more gusty. I was sat in the water, gust came a pulled me a good 5ft out the water. The weekend just gone I was out on land, wind was just too bumpy, with thoughts of the previous weekend I just bottled it. I wish I had spent more time on the 11G2, I think I’d have been fine but I was just being retarded. I think with the winter nights I am not getting quite as much time out flying and losing my confidence slightly. I think I need a good session where I just throw myself into it.
Trampolining, well that is coming along nicely. I can now do seat drop to front drop which is fun, I can’t wait to move onto back drops. Watching other people do their thing on the trampoline is great, there are some really competent people at the class doing various things which I can’t wait to get onto and try. There is also an interesting bunch of people there, much like kiting which is cool. I have also started my running again with a view to take part in the 10k next year [that I did this year] and also the half-marathon. Rather than start at the last minute I am going to take a slower build up but aim for a real good time.
I’m really looking forward to the Nintendo Wii, I pre-ordered a while ago and with the North American release, and the release of video reviews of the various games I am getting all excited like a kid. I have decided that I am a) going to take the day off work when it is released, and b) I am going to get Zelda and Trauma Centre on the day of launch. Combined with Wii Sports, I believe I am in for a good time. Only a 17 days to go.
Yesterday, a group of us went to see Casino Royale which was a good laugh. The more I think about the film the more I liked it. Daniel Craig is to Bond what Matt Damon is to Bourne. It still retains the elements that make it Bond, but is much darker, Craig is much more ruthless and the action sequences are not as over the top as previous films but much grittier. I am really looking forward to the next film. I think I now have to re-assess what my ordering for good bonds is. I think it is Daniel Craig, Brosnan, Dalton then a mish-mash of the rest. On the topic of Bourne, I hope they make the third film. That is all.
This evening, I think I am going to spend some time reading about LALR parsing, maybe get some pizza or some other rubbish snack food [might even stoop so low as some McDonalds] and watch a DVD or spooks. Or a DVD and spooks. Or just spooks. Or something.
Anyway, I am alive. And so are you, lets keep it that way for the moment.
